From Code Enforcement Officer James Millington: Under the above codes you may be required to have a building permit for construction, demolition, furnace or wood stove installation, plumbing alteration or electrical updates, roof replacements, & installation of pools or fencing within the boundaries of the Village of Dexter. This is just a partial list of what may require permits. New York State has revised code requirements for many building permits including roofing. If you are considering improvements to your property, it is recommended you contact me at 639-6260 or 771-2772 to see if a building permit is required. Building permits applications can be e-mailed, faxed, or picked up at the village office.
